Now showing at The Marshall Muse Gallery, brand new Greensboro space

The Marshall Muse Gallery in downtown Greensboro, NC where I’m now exhibiting.

There’s a new art gallery in a 110 year-old Tudor house in downtown Greensboro called The Marshall Muse Gallery. The address is 314 N. Church Street. I’m pleased to tell you that my work is now hanging there, along with so many other pieces from artists I know and others I have yet to meet.

The first event held there was this past Friday evening. Local art lovers are familiar with “First Friday”, a monthly opportunity to stop by downtown galleries and see artists’ latest work. Even if it hadn’t been the very first event, turnout at The Marshall Muse Gallery was impressive, and visitors were so glad they came.

My involvement is not only as an exhibiting artist in the main gallery, but I’m also one of maybe 15 artists who have our work in the hallways as well, as a “Passageway Gallery Artist”. This means I have a 6 foot wide wall to display a number of paintings which will depend on the sizes. I can fit quite a lot of paintings in the space, which I will be rotating out from time to time. It’s all very, very exciting. Right now I have 19 paintings in my dedicated space that range from 4x4 to 24x36 inches, and one hanging in the main gallery space. (“Quiet Shore” is the name of the painting I chose to contribute to our first exhibition. Read all about it here on my website!) There are two additional paintings I was asked to bring in after the gallery space had been hung, and I was thrilled to contribute! (You can read a little more by clicking the images below.)

These photos show you not only my artwork hanging in my Passageway Gallery Wall space, but also the two paintings hanging in the entrance window. Click to enlarge. Photos don’t do any of them justice, of course, so I hope you’ll visit and see for yourself!

Tracey Marshall, owner and founder, has planned so many activities and events to keep people coming in the doors 7 days a week, and I want to tell you about some of them!

  • The ribbon cutting is this Wednesday, November 12 at 4; guests will be welcomed in the gallery from 3:30-5.

  • The next night, November 13, is the opening reception for photographer Carrie Rosario’s “What the Eyes Don’t See” exhibition. Her work hangs in our Community Gallery which is upstairs with many of the In-House Artist’s studio spaces. You won’t want to miss her work nor theirs.

  • We have our Grand Opening on Saturday, November 15, from 5-9. I’d love to show YOU my wall of art.

  • The third Thursday of each month will be the gallery opening connecting the in-house artists (those who rent studio spaces there) with guest artists. There will be art conversation and community and plenty of parking for all. Our first Third Thursday Reception will be on November 20th, 6-9pm, so save that date if you’re local and interested.

  • I mentioned that we’ve hosted our First Friday, but it’s good to know that they’re held first Friday of each month, from 6pm to 9pm, when the Gallery is open to folks enjoying a walkabout in downtown Greensboro. Though we aren’t in the heart of downtown, folks can easily join us while downtown, and we have free parking in our own lot in the back!

In addition to exhibits and openings, The Marshall Muse Gallery also offers classes:

  • There are movement classes every morning - mostly yoga, but Tai Chi too. I’m attending Tai Chi with Michael Gagliano and although it’s hard, I’m glad I’ve started these sessions again.

  • There are also classes for kids, as well as classes for adults. (Some of my friends will be teaching classes.)

Notices will be on Facebook and Instagram, so stay tuned.
