One of the more fun memories of creating this painting is of the discussions I had with other studio artists at Sternberger Artists Center, where I paint⦠when I began this piece. My friend Hollis is certain that these poppies are growing at the edge of a body of water. I, on the other hand, see this as three poppies with the sky behind them. Thatās a great thing about art. Even when the intention is literal, the viewer still gets to interpret the image as they wish. Of course this isnāt the first time thereās been a āwater vs skyā debate over my art. Lots of similar textures and colors in both, no? Read more about the entire Poppies Series here.
Size (h & d): 6 Ć 6 in
Medium: Oil on cradle board
